Unpacking the Draft Petroleum (Amendment) Bill 2025

AWEIK, in partnership with the Kenya Oil and Gas Working Group (KOGWG), convened an online webinar to unpack the Draft Petroleum (Amendment) Bill, 2025. The session aimed to enhance stakeholder understanding of the proposed amendments and their potential implications for Kenya’s petroleum sector.

The webinar was moderated by Mr. Muturi Kamau, National Network Coordinator at KOGWG, and featured expert perspectives from Ms. Getrude Kibare, Managing Partner at Johnson & Partners Advocates; Mr. Ezra Terer, Senior Gas Officer at the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA); and Eng. Laura Muniafu of Bain Energy Solutions Ltd. Discussions focused on legal, regulatory, and operational considerations arising from the draft Bill, as well as opportunities for strengthening governance and sector accountability.

This webinar formed part of AWEIK’s continued efforts to promote informed policy engagement, inclusive dialogue, and evidence-based contributions to energy and extractives sector reforms in Kenya.
