Women in Energy

AWEIK’s Women in Energy Program is a flagship initiative promoting a gender-inclusive energy transition and climate action in Kenya. The program empowers women to become leaders in the clean energy sector through skills development, access to finance, and policy advocacy.

Key Focus Areas:

1. Clean Cooking Solutions

Promoting sustainable and safe cooking technologies in communities.

2. Carbon Markets

Enhancing women’s participation in climate finance and carbon credit programs.

3. Climate Policy integration

Advocating for gender-responsive climate policies at national and local levels.

4. Renewable Energy Leadership

Equipping women with technical skills and entrepreneurial support for green energy projects.

This program targets regions with high energy poverty and opportunities for female leadership—starting in Kwale, Taita Taveta, Turkana, and Marsabit.
Goal: To create sustainable, inclusive energy solutions that improve livelihoods, protect the environment, and put women at the center of Kenya’s energy future.
