Strengthening The Capacities Of Women In Mining Project – Women’s Rights Fund (WRF)

The Strengthening the Capacities of Women in Mining project, is dedicated to enhancing women’s leadership, participation, and advocacy in the mining sector. To achieve this, the program has strengthened AWEIK’s organizational structure through capacity development for the Secretariat and the Board of Director, enhanced AWEIK’s visibility ensuring its advocacy efforts reach a broader audience, and facilitated AWEIK’s Mentorship Program (Cohort I), which empowered young women in mining through mentorship, career development, and policy discussions aimed at creating safer and more inclusive workplaces.

As part of its advocacy and engagement efforts, AWEIK has actively participated in significant industry events focused on decolonization, racial justice, intersectional feminism, risk management and support structures for women’s rights organizations. Through these initiatives, AWEIK continues to advocate for a more inclusive and equitable mining sector where women have the opportunity to lead and thrive.
