Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship

Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship

AWEIK’s Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship program empowers artisanal and small-scale miners (ASM), especially women, with essential business skills to sustainably manage their mining operations. Over the past three years, AWEIK has mobilized women mining groups across counties, increasing participation and interest in the ASM sector through strategic initiatives like building clear value chain linkages from mine to market.

The program addresses key challenges faced by ASM communities, such as poor financial management, limited access to feasibility studies, uneconomical investments, and lack of bookkeeping. Through targeted training, participants learn to manage finances, track costs, save, invest, and make informed decisions, creating sustainable enterprises and fostering economic stability.
