Information Session on the Draft National Energy Policy 2025 and Draft National Petroleum Policy 2025

Information Session on the Draft National Energy Policy 2025 and Draft National Petroleum Policy 2025

In March 2025, AWEIK hosted an online information session focused on Kenya’s Draft National Energy Policy 2025 and Draft National Petroleum Policy 2025. The webinar provided stakeholders with an opportunity to better understand the proposed policy directions and their implications for the energy and petroleum sectors.

The session featured technical insights from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), with contributions from Mr. Ezra Terer, Senior Gas Officer; Eng. Mungai Kihara, Deputy Director – Renewable Energy; and was moderated by Ms. Stella Opakas, Deputy Director of Mid and Downstream Petroleum at EPRA. Discussions centred on regulatory considerations, sector priorities, and the alignment of the draft policies with Kenya’s broader energy transition and sustainability goals.

The webinar formed part of AWEIK’s ongoing commitment to promoting informed engagement, inclusive policy dialogue, and gender-responsive approaches within Kenya’s energy and extractives sectors.
