“Awakening Women’s Potential in the Energy and Extractives sectors”

The Association for Women in Energy and Extractives in Kenya (AWEIK) is dedicated to advancing the professional and economic development of women in Kenya’s energy and extractives sectors.

We empower women in the Energy and Extractives industries in Kenya by promoting their involvement through advocacy, branding, capacity-building initiatives, and business development services. Our mission is to unlock the full potential of women, enabling them to thrive and lead within these sectors.

To open up business opportunities through leadership, professional development opportunities, and knowledge transfer for Kenyan women in the extractives value chain in Kenya, the region and globally.
Our Approach

Our approach focuses on Research, Lobbying and Advocacy, Capacity Building, and Business Development Services to unlock the potential of women in Kenya’s energy and extractives industries. Through these pillars, we implement various signature programs tailored to meet the needs of women across the energy and extractives industry value chain.

Our Goals
Promote: Encourage and support the active participation of women in Kenya’s energy and extractives industry value chains, ensuring they benefit fully from the sector's opportunities.
Highlight: Identify and address the socio-economic challenges faced by women in the energy and extractives sectors, while supporting women’s organizing, movement-building, and solidarity.
Lobby: Advocate for women’s participation and empowerment in the energy and extractives sectors, in alignment with the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, to drive short and long-term reforms, and influence structural, legal, institutional, and policy changes.
